Dear Parents,

March is out like a lion and April is here.  It is hard to believe we are beginning our fourth and final marking period of the year on April 3rd!  With the end in sight we still have so much to accomplish.

You will see several items on the calendar for April.  The school budget vote will be held on Tuesday, April 15th.  The polls are open from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Mount Arlington Public School.  A final B.O.E. budget presentation is scheduled for April 9th at the PTA Meeting in the MAPS Cafeteria.  All are welcome to attend.  Your continued support helps the students of Mount Arlington Schools.  Please remember to VOTE!

We have exciting news.  Our students will be voting on a name for the new ball field! Each homeroom will choose a name to submit to an entry panel of students and faculty.  The entry panel will select three winners to be placed on the Kids Vote ballot.  The winning name will be on permanent display at the ball field.  The Kids Vote will be held on April 15th in room 9 at the Mount Arlington Public School.  Voting hours are from 3:30 PM  to 8:00 PM. An adult must accompany all students in order for them to cast their vote.  It is our goal to have children become familiar and comfortable with voting and foster the important civic habit that will last a lifetime.

The cast and crew of our Drama Club will be performing this year’s production, The Phantom of the Op’ry on April 3rd and 4th at 7:00 in the MAPS all-purpose room.  This musical restaging of Gaston Leroux’s famous mystery is full of laughs.  Come discover who is haunting the Skunk Creek Opera House!  Softball season is also getting underway and our students are excited to play their home games on our new ball field on Howard Boulevard.   I look forward to seeing you in the audience and the stands.

I hope everybody plans for a fun and relaxing Spring Recess from April 21st – 25th.  With Spring Break a little later this year the weather should be warm and enjoyable. Seventh and eighth grade students should come back relaxed and ready to begin taking the NJ ASK standardized test on April 29th.

With the arrival of warmer weather comes a change in student dress.  Please review the expectations for student dress, which can be found in the front of every student’s agenda.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                Sincerely,

                                                                                              Stuart Mason
