Language Arts in grades K-8 is an integrated program which emphasizes interdisciplinary connections. The program integrates phonics, fluency, vocabulary, grammar, spelling, and comprehension. The reading program provides opportunities for students to enjoy and analyze a variety of genres. The literature-based program includes the use of shared reading, trade books, core novels, periodicals, anthologies, and student-authored books. Sustained silent reading and read-alouds foster the development of positive reading habits so that our children become proficient lifelong readers. The writing program provides opportunities for students to develop content, organization, mechanics, and grammar skills. Grade level units are designed to provide an understanding of different genres.

World
Language Our World Language program supports our mission to help students become responsible citizens in a diverse world. The ability to communicate with people and have a deeper understanding of different cultures is an important piece of our curriculum. Students begin by gaining an introduction to the basic vocabulary and simple conversational language through a variety of experiences. The program then increases in frequency and skill level, building upon the foundation from the previous years. During grades 7-8, students take Spanish on a daily basis as part of their core course cycle. During these two years, students focus on conversational language and increased vocabulary development.
